Sarwat Gilani is a renowned Pakistani television and film actor known for her excellent acting and brilliant script choices. She has appeared in numerous hit dramas such as Azar Ki Ayegi Baraat, Mere Dard Ko Jo Zuban Miley, Meri Zaat Zarra-e-Benishan, Zakhm, Mata-e-Jaan Hai Tu, Mann Piyasa, Seeta Baagri, and Khasara. Recently, Sarwat Gilani appeared on Nariman Ansari’s YouTube show Begam Baygham, where she spoke about how strangely fans react when they see actors performing Umrah or other religious duties.
Talking about it, Sarwat Gilani said, “It’s so funny that people say, ‘You look so modern and fast — what do you have to do with religion?’ There was a time when I was performing Umrah in Makkah or Madina. I was going somewhere when a fan stopped me and said, ‘Oh my God, are you Sarwat Gilani? What are you doing here?’ There is this concept that if you are a ‘fast’ girl who wears jeans or pants, you can’t be a religious person.
