Filmmaker Sam Raimi has made some pretty wild movies…
Don’t forget, this is the man that introduced us to the insanity of The Evil Dead and its sequels.
So, for Raimi to call his new movie “outrageous even for him,” means it must be something truly unique.
That’s what Raimi had to say when discussing his imminent return to the horror genre with Send Help.
Raimi discloses that he was initially hesitant to commit to the project, when screenwriters Mark Swift and Damian Shannon pitched their script:
“When they pitched the story, I laughed and couldn’t believe they were doing this. It was really outrageous, even for me, who makes outrageous horror films.”
When asked if Send Help bore similarities to any of his previous horror work, like The Evil Dead, Raimi said:
There is a similarity, but it’s not some outside force they’re dealing with here like Evil Dead. What they’re coming to terms with is who they really are. And as the layers start shedding, we see certain conflicts emerge.”
So, it’s safe to say that Raimi seems excited about his return to the genre.
Send Help stars Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien. They play co-workers at odds, forced to fight for survival when their private plane crashes on a deserted island.
Described as Cast Away meets Misery, the film is scheduled to hit screens on January 30th 2026.
