With over 50-years of history as a South Australian, family owned brand in Adelaide, the Solitaire Automotive Group has just been sold to interstate automotive retailer, Autosports Group.
The Solitaire group has been run by two South Australian families, the Smoker and Holst families, for decades. Over that time the company has grown into the state’s largest prestige automotive retailer, building a strong reputation in the luxury car market.
Solitaire occupies six locations in South Australia including, Adelaide, Hawthorn, Prospect, Prospect, Eastwood, Parkside and Mile End. At these sites, Solitaire employ a combined total of over 250 staff.
These dealerships represent ten luxury automotive and motorcycle brands, including Aston Martin, Audi, Jaguar Land Rover, Volvo Cars, Polestar, Zeekr, Cupra, Ducati, plus Maserati and Volkswagen
“I am delighted to announce that Autosports Group has entered an agreement to acquire the Solitaire Automotive Group in Adelaide,” CEO of Autosports Group, Nick Pagent said, in a post.
“Representing Aston Martin, Audi, Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo Cars, Polestar, Zeekr, Cupra, Ducati, Maserati and Volkswagen, across 15 dealerships and 13 sites, the Solitaire Group is a perfect fit for Autosports Groups growth strategy.”
“The Solitaire Group has meaningful scale, good growth prospects and a unique position as the sole retailer in South Australia for most of its brand portfolio.”
The acquisition fills a gap for the Autosports group who already have national footprints in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Canberra, as well as a national presence in Auckland.
The Smokers will remain involved in the business, with David Smoker becoming a shareholder in Autosports Group.
“We are delighted to welcome David Smoker as a shareholder, and would like to thank the Smoker and Holst families for their goodwill through the transaction,” Nick said.
“Their contribution to the South Australian luxury automotive market has been without peer, our thanks also goes to our OEM partners for their continued support.”
