Russia Ready to Supply Discounted Oil to Pakistan If It Asks

Russia has offered to supply discounted oil to Pakistan, subject to a formal request from Islamabad, as global fuel markets remain under pressure due to Middle East tensions.

Russia’s Ambassador to Pakistan Albert Khorev said on Tuesday that Moscow is prepared to provide oil at discounted rates but has not received any official communication from Pakistan on the matter.

He identified the energy sector as the primary area of bilateral cooperation and indicated that progress depends on Pakistan initiating engagement.

Global oil supply has been disrupted after Iran blocked the Strait of Hormuz following strikes by the United States and Israel. The route is a key corridor for international oil shipments.

Amid the disruption, Pakistan has increased petrol and diesel prices by Rs. 55 per litre each.

The Russian envoy added that Iran’s actions were directed at US military positions in the Gulf but did not provide further assessment due to uncertainty.

He described recent military actions by US President Donald Trump as unexpected and said the situation remains unpredictable.

He also condemned an attack on a girls’ school in Iran that resulted in 170 deaths and called for restraint. He further commented that the use of force against Iran has escalated tensions and contributed to regional instability.
