The long-awaited “Rush Hour 4” is officially in development, nearly two decades after the last instalment, with original stars Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker reprising their iconic roles.
The film marks the return of director Brett Ratner, who will helm the project despite past controversies. Paramount Pictures has secured distribution rights and will release the film theatrically, handling distribution without financing or marketing costs.
Significantly, the project gained traction after a personal request from US President Donald Trump, who urged Paramount’s CEO to revive the beloved buddy cop franchise. While no official release date has been announced, early talks suggest the film could hit theatres in 2026.
Fans remain excited to see the comedic duo back in action, continuing their high-energy, humorous crime-fighting adventures in a nostalgic yet fresh sequel.
The “Rush Hour” film franchise has been a major box-office success, with three instalments released so far. The original “Rush Hour” (1998) had a production budget of approximately $35 million and grossed around $245 million worldwide, including $141 million domestically.
“Rush Hour 2” (2001) significantly increased the scale, with a budget of $90 million and a worldwide gross of about $347 million, including $226 million domestically.
The third film, “Rush Hour 3” (2007), had a larger budget estimated between $140 million $180 million and earned roughly $258 million worldwide.
