Round 14 result
Brisbane Roar:
3-1 win over Canberra United (H)
Central Coast Mariners:
2-1 loss to Western Sydney Wanderers (H)

Brisbane Roar and Central Coast Mariners go into this one level on points, but in rather different runs of form.

Brisbane remain undefeated so far in 2026 after their 3-1 win at home to Canberra, while Central Coast’s shock loss to last placed Western Sydney has brought them back into the pack.

Striker Annalise Rasmussen’s ninth goal of the season wasn’t enough to see off the Wanderers as the Mariners were beaten for pace at the back for both goals.

Brisbane conceded first in their clash, but after Daisy Brown’s equaliser on the stroke of half time, it was very much their game.

Central Coast were the last team to defeat the Roar, with a 3-2 win on New Year’s Eve.

Adelaide United v Melbourne City

Saturday, January 31 – Coopers Stadium – 4:30pm AEDT

Round 14 result
Adelaide United:
3-1 loss to Wellington Phoenix (A)
Melbourne City:
2-0 win over Perth Glory (A)

Initially slated for a Friday evening kick off, this game has been pushed back to Saturday due to extreme weather forecast in Adelaide.

A late Isabel Hodgson goal for the Reds brought the score back to 3-1 in what was a disappointing showing against Wellington Phoenix.

Taranto twins Melissa and Adriana have combined well in attack on the right in recent weeks, with Adriana creating two chances against Wellington, while Melissa created one with her shot on target.

Melbourne City were in control all the way against Perth Glory, Holly McNamara scored both goals in the 2-0 win as she extended her lead atop the golden boot leaderboard and extended City’s lead on the league table.

From falling behind in matches played while away at the AFC Women’s Champions League, Melbourne City have now caught up to the other teams in the league. Now that they’ve played 11 matches, they sit five points clear of second placed Wellington Phoenix.

Sydney FC v Western Sydney Wanderers

Saturday January 31 – Allianz Stadium – 500pm AEDT

Western Sydney Wanderers:

Recent Result:
Sydney FC:
0-0 draw against Perth Glory (A)
Western Sydney Wanderers:
2-1 win over Central Coast Mariners (A)

Goalkeeper Heather Hinz was massive in Sydney’s 0-0 draw in Melbourne, making seven saves en route to keeping her third clean sheet of the season.

The American then made it back-to-back clean sheets as she once again kept the opposition at bay as the Sky Blues drew 0-0 with Perth in midweek.

Western Sydney striker Holly Caspers had a day out against Central Coast, scoring a goal either side of half time to help Geoff Abrahams’ side secure just their second win this season.

Young winger Talia Younis continues to show flashes of brilliance out wide for the Wanderers, with Caspers’ second goal coming from a perfectly placed cross from the right from Younis.

With both Sydney and Western Sydney hanging down the bottom end of the table this match presents a real opportunity for the younger and less experienced players to show that they can handle the pressures of a derby.

Canberra United v Melbourne Victory

Saturday January 31 – McKellar Park – 5:30pm AEDT

MATCH CENTRE | BUY TICKETS | HOW TO WATCH

Current table position
Canberra United:
3rd
Melbourne Victory: 6th

Round 14 result
Canberra United:
3-1 loss to Brisbane Roar (A)
Melbourne Victory: 0-0 draw against Sydney FC (H)

Canberra United fell to their second straight loss last week against Brisbane, while Melbourne Victory continued their winless streak with a draw against Sydney FC.

Canberra opened the scoring against the Roar through Sofia Christopherson and somewhat against the run of play, but from then on it was all Brisbane.

Victory seem to have the problem Adelaide and Wellington have both had earlier this season. Even when they play well, the opposition goalkeeper turns into a brick wall.

They had 23 shots with seven of them on target against Sydney, but there was just no way past Sydney FC’s Heather Hinz.

Form suggests that Canberra keeper Sally James’ performance will go a long way to deciding the result of this one. If she’s on, Victory’s slump looks set to continue.

When these teams met back on December 5th, Canberra won 3-1.

Newcastle Jets v Wellington Phoenix

Sunday February 1 – No.2 Sportsground – 5:00pm AEDT

MATCH CENTRE | BUY TICKETS | HOW TO WATCH

Current table position
Newcastle Jets:
9th
Wellington Phoenix:
2nd

Round 14 result
Newcastle Jets:
Bye
Wellington Phoenix:
3-1 win over Adelaide United (H)

Wellington climbed from seventh to second on the table with their big 3-1 win against Adelaide United, Brooke Nunn scored two goals with Makala Woods scoring the other.

The American striker has been an excellent inclusion to Bev Preistman’s side, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in her three appearances.

Newcastle were very inconsistent before their bye, defeating lowly Sydney and league leaders Melbourne City before losing to Adelaide United.

With a win, the Phoenix can keep City from extending their lead on top of the table and solidify their second place. Newcastle need the win to keep within reach of the top six.
