Season 2 of the Reincarnated as a Sword TV anime has received a trailer and an October broadcast start date. The trailer shows heroine Fran and the sword protagonist dealing with the dangerous denizens of a floating dungeon.
Reincarnated as a Sword is based on the light novel series written by Yu Tanaka and illustrated by Llo. Seven Seas Entertainment describes the light novels’ synopsis as such:
Reincarnated as a sentient weapon with memories of his past life, but not his name, a magical sword saves a young beastgirl from a life of slavery. Fran, the cat-eared girl, becomes his wielder, and wants only to grow stronger, while the sword wants to know why he is here. Together, the strange duo’s journey has only just begun!
The books began in 2016 and have 20 volumes as of October 2025. They are published under Micro Magazine’s GC Novels label/imprint.
A Gentosha-published manga adaptation by Tomowo Maruyama began in 2016, while the Micro Magazine-published Reincarnated as a Sword: Another Wish by Hinako Inoue arrived in 2020. The story first started as a web novel on Shosetsuka ni Naro in 2015.
The first season of Reincarnated as a Sword aired in 2022.
