The Reborn as a Space Mercenary: I Woke Up Piloting the Strongest Starship! TV anime adaptation has received a teaser trailer, teaser visual, and October 2026 broadcast premiere window.
Norihiko Nagahama (The Strongest Magician in the Demon Lord’s Army Was a Human) is directing the series at studio A-CAT. Masami Sueoka (The Beginning After the End, The Strongest Magician in the Demon Lord’s Army was a Human) is the character designer.

The cast includes Makoto Furukawa as Hiro, Konomi Inagaki as Mimi, Anna Nagase as Elma, and Haruka Shiraishi as Serena.
Reborn as a Space Mercenary is based on the light novel series written by Ryuto and illustrated by Tetsuhiro Nabeshima. Seven Seas Entertainment describes the books’ synopsis as such:
When Satou Takahiro is swept away from his ordinary life into the world of his favorite video game, a universe of space battles, interstellar colonies, and danger in the vastness of outer space awaits. Soon, he’s living as “Hiro” the mercenary, with a tricked-out spaceship and a babe on each arm! There are space pirates to fight, girls to rescue, and trouble to get into (and hopefully out of). Hiro is going to live his new life to the fullest!
The source material (titled Mezametara Saikyo Sobi to Uchusenmochi datta node, Ikkodate Meashite Yohei toshite Jiyu ni Ikitai in Japanese) began in July 2019 and will release its 17th volume on May 9, 2026 (JST). It is published under the KADOKAWA BOOKS label/imprint.
Reborn as a Space Mercenary was previously a Shosetsuka ni Naro web novel, which begans serialization in February 2019. The light novels have a manga adaptation drawn by Shunichi Matsui.
