RDA Orders Inquiry Against Famous Housing Scheme

The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has ordered a comprehensive inquiry into issues related to Bahria Town Housing Scheme Phase-8 after receiving complaints from allottees regarding non-possession of plots.

RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza issued the directive while presiding over a meeting at the RDA conference room to hear grievances submitted by affected allottees. During the meeting, complainants stated that they have not received possession of their plots since 2004.

The allottees also raised concerns about an alleged demand for an additional Rs. 1.1 million by the scheme’s administration and reported unprofessional conduct by certain officials. They further questioned the sale of plots without a valid no-objection certificate (NOC).

After reviewing the complaints, the DG RDA sought clarification from the Bahria Town administration on the delay in granting possession and the deductions being made. She directed the authority’s legal wing to initiate proceedings, including the filing of prosecutions and registration of FIRs against employees found responsible.

Murtaza stated that protecting the rights of citizens remains a top priority for the authority and stressed that no housing scheme would be allowed to operate in violation of applicable laws. She added that RDA will continue strict monitoring of housing schemes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safeguard public interests.
