South Africa sealed the three-match T20I series against West Indies in emphatic fashion after a breathtaking century from Quinton de Kock in the second T20 international at SuperSport Park on Thursday, January 29. Chasing a daunting target of 222, the Proteas cruised home with 15 balls to spare, thanks to a career-best knock that left the Caribbean bowlers stunned.

Quinton de Kock lights up Centurion with career-best T20I knock

Playing his 100 T20I, De Kock produced one of the most destructive knocks of his career. The left-handed opener smashed 115 runs off just 49 deliveries, completing his century in a mere 43 balls. His innings featured 10 towering sixes and 6 fours, underlining his dominance from the very first over.

De Kock reached his half-century in just 21 balls and needed only 22 more deliveries to convert it into a hundred. Remarkably, he played only eight dot balls throughout the innings, maintaining relentless pressure on the West Indies attack and setting the tone for one of South Africa’s most memorable chases.

The explosive knock carried added significance, as it marked De Kock’s second T20 century and took him past the 12,000-run mark in T20 cricket.

The innings further highlighted de Kock’s enduring value in white-ball cricket, especially at a time when South Africa are building depth and experience ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

Earlier in the day, West Indies appeared well on course for an even bigger total after a blistering second-wicket partnership between Brandon King and Shimron Hetmyer. The duo added 115 runs in the first 10 overs, putting the Proteas under early pressure.

Sherfane Rutherford then provided late fireworks, smashing 57 off just 24 balls as West Indies piled on 76 runs in the final five overs to finish on 221. At one stage, a total beyond 250 looked possible.
