Punjab Builds Rs. 53 Million Stadium in Olympic Champion Arshad Nadeem’s Village

An athletics stadium is under construction in Chak 101/15-L, Main Channu, the home village of Olympic javelin champion Arshad Nadeem, with officials reporting that about 60 per cent of the work is already complete.

The project was launched following a commitment by the Punjab government after Nadeem won Olympic gold with a record javelin throw. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif had pledged a dedicated sports facility in his native village, and a special grant of Rs. 50 million was allocated through the Sports Department to initiate the scheme.

District Sports Officer Muhammad Hafeez said the stadium spans seven acres and is being built at a total cost of Rs 52.973 million. He noted that the boundary wall, jogging track, and an open-air gym have been completed, while a turbine has been installed to provide water for the grounds.

Once an electricity connection is in place, grass laying and plantation work will begin. The stadium is scheduled to be finished by June 2027.

Recently, Arshad Nadeem met Deputy Commissioner Khanewal Maliha Rasheed and invited her to inspect the site in his village.

She accepted the invitation and said the district administration, following the chief minister’s directives, is focused on expanding sports facilities and restoring Playgrounds so that emerging athletes can be groomed to represent Pakistan at national and international levels.
