A total of 100 IndiGo flights, including 50 arrivals and 50 departures, operated smoothly on Thursday, while 14 flights, including seven arrivals and seven departures, were cancelled. IndiGo, in an official press release, announced that it will offer vouchers worth Rs 10,000 to passengers severely impacted by the disruptions in addition to the government-mandated compensation of Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000.
Pune Airport Director Santosh Dhoke said operations had returned to near normalcy. “As far as other airlines are concerned, there are no cancellations. Ninety-eight percent of IndiGo operations are stabilised. The remaining issues due to cancellations will be resolved soon. Officials from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, who reviewed various parameters such as cleanliness, congestion, seating facilities, and overall passenger experience, were very happy with their experience. The officials came on Tuesday, yesterday, and today… my team continued monitoring the parameters. We have served water, tea and coffee to passengers, they should know we are standing with them,” he said.
Many passengers too said operations have largely stabilised. “My Jodhpur to Pune (6E 414) landed 10 minutes before time. It was a good experience, just like before the chaos,” said Ritu Choudhary. “I have a flight from Pune to Raipur (6E 6905). Everything seems normal and on schedule. I’m going to check in soon,” said Swati Acharya.
Passengers also noted that schedule changes were communicated well in advance. “My Pune to Kolkata flight (6E 6561) was preponed from 10:40 pm to 6:50 pm, but I got a message on Tuesday evening about the change,” said Soumen Bhowmik. “There was a 20 minute delay due to technical issues in my Delhi to Pune (6E 6857) flight, but despite that, everything was on time,” said Amol Mali.
However, some passengers were still seen at the IndiGo helpdesk expressing frustration due to unresolved issues. “I am here rescheduling my flight. I am in the Army. I had a flight from Pune to Agartala (6E 2774) on the 4th. They delayed it several times. I am still here. I missed my reporting and now I have to pay a fine because of this chaos,” said Murad Mulani. “My flight from Goa to Pune (6E 920) was on the 3rd. They severely damaged my baggage. I’ve been coming here almost every day since then, and there’s still no compensation even though they said they will give it,” said Sahib Singh.
