PSL Confirms Multiple Bidders for Multan Sultans

The Pakistan Super League has confirmed that six bids have been submitted for Multan Sultans, as the race to secure ownership of the franchise intensifies ahead of PSL 11.

The league shared the update through its official social media accounts, disclosing the number of parties that entered the bidding process for the franchise. The post stated that six bids had been received for Multan Sultans.

The sale process was formally launched by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on January 14, 2025, when the board issued an advertisement inviting interested groups to apply and submit bids for the franchise rights. The PCB is seeking offers for the ownership of the 2021 PSL champions.

The deadline for submitting documents for the technical proposal was initially set for January 30, but was later revised.

Multan Sultans became available after former owner Ali Tareen announced in November that he would step away from the franchise. His exit followed strained relations with the PCB that had reportedly continued for more than a year.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi later said the board would take charge of the franchise once the existing agreement expires on December 31, 2025.

At one point, the PCB was expected to run the team for a season before putting it up for sale in 2027. However, improved franchise valuations in recent sales are understood to have encouraged the board to move earlier.

Last month’s franchise auction at the Jinnah Convention Centre saw FKS Group and OZ Developers purchase the newly added teams from Hyderabad and Sialkot for Rs. 1.75 billion and Rs. 1.85 billion, respectively, expanding the league to eight teams from season 11.

PSL 11 is scheduled to begin on March 26, while the player auction will take place on February 11.
