President Asif Ali Zardari met with Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on Wednesday in Manama, where the two discussed matters of mutual interest.
The president, accompanied by First Lady Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari, arrived in the capital on Tuesday on a four-day state visit.
The president’s office confirmed the meeting in a post on X, adding that he was accorded a guard of honour upon his arrival at the royal residence Al-Qudaibiya Palace.
“Talks covered trade and investment, defence [cooperation], support for the Pakistani community, and regional and global issues,” the presidency detailed.
King Hamad also conferred the Sheikh Isa Award on President Zardari. As per its website, the award is granted “every two years to either individuals or organisations who have been selected through a gruelling process by an expert panel of jurists” for their services to humanity.
