PM Shehbaz cuts petrol price by Rs12, diesel by Rs135 per litre

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday announced a reduction of Rs12 in petrol prices and Rs135 in diesel rates, attributing the relief to a decline in global oil prices.

In a televised address, he said petrol will now cost Rs366 per litre and diesel Rs385 per litre, with the new rates taking effect from April 11.

The announcement comes as Pakistan prepares to host high-stakes US-Iran peace talks in Islamabad.

The prime minister said that, considering his moral and political responsibility, he decided that the public—after enduring inflation—now deserves full relief.

He announced that following a decline in global oil prices, the price of diesel will be reduced by Rs135 per litre and petrol by Rs12 per litre, effective from midnight.

After the latest cut, diesel will cost Rs385 per litre, while petrol will be priced at Rs366 per litre.

The prime minister added that, with the cooperation of provincial governments, the previously announced subsidy for all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir will continue.
