India and Malaysia have decided to strengthen cooperation in the fields of counter-terrorism, intelligence sharing & maritime security, following bilateral talks held between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Malaysian counterpart Anwar Ibrahim. On the second day of PM Modi’s official visit to Malaysia, the two countries inked a number of agreements

Earlier in the morning, Mr. Modi received a ceremonial welcome and Guard of Honour at the Perdana Putra building in Malaysia. The Malaysian PM, following talks with Mr. Modi, said that India and Malaysia will continue to expand collaboration in trade, investment, connectivity and defence.

Mr. Modi arrived in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday (February 7, 2026) to a grand red-carpet reception, with Ibrahim receiving him at the airport, signalling a new momentum in the bilateral relations.
