Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table Releases Main Trailer

The SHIBOYUGI: Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table TV anime has released a main trailer, not long after its premiere on January 7 at 11 PM JST. The new promotional material largely focuses on main protagonist Yuki and also plays the ending song “Inori” by Chiai Fujikawa.

SHIBOYUGI: Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table is based on the MF Bunko J light novel series written by Yushi Ukai and illustrated by Nekometaru. Yen Press describes the books’ synopsis as such:

Yuki wakes up to find herself in an unfamiliar manor, wearing a maid uniform and lying on a luxurious bed. Soon, she discovers five more girls, all dressed the same as her. This is the Ghost House, and the only way they can survive is to make it through the traps that lie in wait-deadly games full of blowguns, buzz saws, locked rooms, and weapons. It’s a hopeless, terrifying situation for everyone there…well, everyone except Yuki. After all, this is her career at seventeen. Do you think that’s odd? She would agree. But that’s how some people are-they earn their living playing death games.

The light novel series began in November 2022 and will see the release of its ninth volume in Japan on January 23, 2026. There is a manga by Banzai Kotobuki Dai Enkai.

Crunchyroll, Netflix, and Muse Asia’s YouTube channel are among the platforms streaming the anime. The show premiered with a 60-minute special.
