The NITRO PLUS visual novel Phantom PHANTOM OF INFERNO is heading to Steam in 2026.
The announcement was made by the X (formerly Twitter) account of NITRO PLUS’ NITRO PLUS ORIGIN brand, which was set up in 2021 to focus on content with age-restricted elements. While further details will have to wait, the post mentioned that there are plans to bring other works to Steam as well.
The original version of Phantom PHANTOM OF INFERNO was released in 2000 and marked the debut of Gen Urobuchi (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Expelled from Paradise, and Song of Saya scriptwriter; Fate/Zero light novel author), who held planning, scenario, and director credits. The premise sees a young man’s trip to America turning complicated when he encounters Phantom, a young woman who is the strongest assassin of the Inferno organization. The protagonist later loses his memories and becomes Phantom’s pupil in the art of assassination.

After a 2004 release named Phantom INTEGRATION (its Pixiv encyclopedia entry says it was an 18+ remake with an engine change), the Phantom PHANTOM OF INFERNO title made a return with an Xbox 360 release in 2012, which was followed by a PC release the next year. This new version of Phantom PHANTOM OF INFERNO included story content from the Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~ TV anime, which aired in 2009 with 26 episodes. It also made use of the show’s cast (among them Miyu Irino, Ayahi Takagaki, and Sayuki Sawashiro) and had character designs and graphics that matched the anime.
Besides the TV anime, Phantom PHANTOM OF INFERNO has also inspired an OVA titled Phantom -PHANTOM THE ANIMATION- and light novels.
