Pakistani Star Batter Named ICC Player of the Month

Pakistan’s opening batsman Sahibzada Farhan has been named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for February 2026 after a standout run in the 2026 T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka.

Sahibzada Farhan finished as the tournament’s top run-scorer, smashing a record-breaking 383 runs in seven matches at an average of 76.60. His campaign included two centuries and two fifties.

The right-hander scored his runs at a strike rate of 160.25 and also went past a long-standing record previously held by Virat Kohli for the most runs in a single edition of the T20 World Cup.

This is the first monthly ICC award of Farhan’s career. He also became the first male cricketer from Pakistan to win the honor since Haris Rauf received it in November 2024.

Farhan also became the first batter to score two centuries in a single T20 World Cup, reaching three figures against Namibia and Sri Lanka during the tournament.

His performances lifted him to a career-best position in the ICC T20I Batting Rankings, where he climbed to second place after his century against Sri Lanka in Pallekele.

He was also part of a 176-run stand with Fakhar Zaman, the highest partnership for any wicket in T20I history. Despite beating Sri Lanka by five runs in that match, Pakistan fell short of a place in the semi-finals because of net run rate.
