Pakistan’s pace spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi has been cleared to feature in the upcoming Australia series and is also available for selection for the 2026 T20 World Cup, according to sources.
Sources say the left-arm fast bowler has been declared fully fit after successfully clearing a fitness test. The assessment was conducted around two days ago, and the results were reported to be satisfactory, easing concerns over his recent knee problem.
Shaheen Afridi had picked up the injury last month during the Big Bash League while representing Brisbane Heat in a match against the Adelaide Strikers.
The incident took place during the Strikers’ run chase when, after the 14th over, he appeared in discomfort, pointed towards his right knee, and limped off the field. He was later ruled out for the remainder of the tournament.
As part of his recovery, Shaheen has also returned to bowling in the nets and was seen delivering with strong rhythm and pace during a session at the National Cricket Academy.
It is worth noting that Shaheen was included in Pakistan’s preliminary squad submitted to the ICC for the 2026 T20 World Cup. However, his selection was initially listed with the condition that he could be replaced if he failed to regain full fitness, something that now appears to be no longer a concern following his clearance.
