Pakistani Fast Bowler Breaks BBL Record

Pakistan’s fiery fast bowler Haris Rauf etched his name into Big Bash League (BBL) history during the Melbourne derby, becoming the quickest bowler to reach 50 wickets in the tournament.

Haris Rauf brought up the landmark in the ongoing clash between Melbourne Renegades and Melbourne Stars, with his 50th BBL scalp coming against Jake Fraser-McGurk. He later struck again to remove Will Sutherland, pushing his overall tally to 51 wickets in 30 matches.

The previous benchmark for the fastest bowler to 50 BBL wickets belonged to John Hastings, who reached the mark in 38 matches.

Bowling for the Stars, Rauf returned figures of 2 for 31 from four overs, providing key breakthroughs as the Renegades tried to build momentum.

He is currently the leading wicket-taker of the tournament with 15 wickets in 8 innings.

On the other side, Renegades wicketkeeper-batter and Haris Rauf’s teammate, Mohammad Rizwan, could not make a major impact with the bat, falling for 21 off 20 balls after being dismissed by Stars captain Marcus Stoinis.

At the innings break, the Renegades had posted 166/7 in 20 overs, setting the Stars a target to chase as they look to secure a derby win.
