Pakistani Batter Smashes Virat Kohli’s T20 World Cup Record

Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan rewrote the record books, surpassing Virat Kohli’s long-standing mark for the most runs in a single edition of the ICC T20 World Cup.

Sahibzada Farhan went past the milestone during Pakistan’s must-win Super 8 clash against Sri Lanka, getting Pakistan off to a confident start before going on to register another century, his second hundred of the tournament, in a high-pressure game with Pakistan’s knockout hopes on the line.

The previous record belonged to Kohli, who had piled up 319 runs during the 2014 T20 World Cup. Farhan’s latest knock takes him beyond that tally, placing him at the top of the all-time list for a single tournament edition and giving Pakistan a major boost at a time when they desperately need momentum.

Farhan’s run spree has been one of Pakistan’s biggest positives in the competition, and his ability to deliver in a do-or-die fixture only adds weight to his breakthrough tournament.
