Pakistan Record Another Historic Win at SAFF Futsal

Pakistan defeated Bhutan 4–2 in the SAFF Men’s Futsal Championship 2026 match at the Nonthaburi Stadium, registering their first-ever international victory at a SAFF Futsal event.

Bhutan led 2–0 at half-time, but Pakistan produced a strong second-half performance, scoring four unanswered goals to complete an impressive comeback.

The win came after Pakistan had earlier suffered a heavy 7–1 defeat to Maldives in their opening match of the tournament.

Earlier on January 15, Pakistan’s women’s futsal team also recorded their first-ever international win at the SAFF Women’s Championship 2026 with a 3-2 victory over Sri Lanka.

With these results, both Pakistan’s men’s and women’s futsal teams created history by recording their first-ever international wins at the SAFF Futsal Championships.

These achievements came despite limited futsal infrastructure in Pakistan and ongoing challenges faced by the national teams.

Pakistan Football Federation President Mohsen Gilani credited the players and coaching staff for their determination and resilience.

“Our players and coaches have made history, and we will build on this foundation to take futsal to greater heights and make Pakistan a force in futsal, In sha Allah,” Gilani said.

In addition to the on-court success, Pakistani referees and coaches also completed futsal certification courses during the SAFF Championship, further contributing to the development of the sport in the country.
