Pakistan Football’s Star Trio Join International Club

Pakistan’s football presence abroad has received a major boost as three national team players have completed moves to Brothers Union FC in Dhaka. The signings include center-back Abdullah Shah, winger Shayak Dost, and right-back Omar Rao.

Brothers Union is one of the most recognizable clubs competing in Bangladesh’s top-tier football competition. Founded in 1949 and supported in its early years by local businessmen, the club, popularly known as the Oranges, earned a reputation for developing young players and building competitive teams over different eras.

After rising through the Dhaka divisional system in the 1970s, Brothers Union became a major name in domestic football and eventually lifted their first league title in 2003–04, before winning again in 2005.

The move is expected to provide the Pakistani trio with consistent top-flight minutes in a competitive regional league, while also offering them a platform to gain valuable experience outside domestic football.

The signings come as another overseas opportunity for a Pakistani footballer recently fell through in Bangladesh. Midfielder Alamgir Ghazi had been linked with moves to clubs in the country, but negotiations reportedly collapsed after agents demanded a 40 percent commission from his salary, a figure his camp considered unacceptable.

Ghazi had previously taken a step abroad by joining Thimphu City FC in Bhutan, highlighting both the growing demand for Pakistani talent and the contractual hurdles players can face when pursuing international transfers.
