Pakistan Clinches Tri-Series With a Dominant Win Over Sri Lanka

Pakistan wrapped up the Tri-Series in style, outplaying Sri Lanka with a dominant bowling display before sealing a six-wicket victory at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Sri Lanka, asked to bat first, started brightly with a 28-run opening stand as Pathum Nissanka punished anything loose. But Pakistan’s spinners took control, triggering a collapse from which the visitors never recovered. From 92-2, Sri Lanka slumped to 114, losing wickets in rapid succession and struggling for any meaningful partnerships.

Chasing a manageable target, Pakistan began positively through Saim Ayub and Sahibzada Farhan, who added 44 for the first wicket. Saim’s quick 36 set the tone, while Farhan rotated strike effectively to keep the run rate in control.

Sri Lanka’s spinners briefly sparked hope, with Pavan Rathnayake picking up two wickets in quick succession, but the total proved too small to trouble Pakistan.

But Babar Azam anchored the chase with trademark calmness. Remaining unbeaten on 32, he shepherded the innings through minor stumbles.

The win capped a dominant all-round performance, defined by Pakistan’s spin trio. With this win, Pakistan not only claims the Tri-Series crown but also continues building momentum ahead of the upcoming 2026 T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
