Pakistan Women’s U-19 sealed a 3-2 series victory after defeating Bangladesh Women’s U-19 by six wickets in the fifth and final T20 at the Cox’s Bazar Academy Ground on Friday afternoon.
Pakistan chased down the 85-run target with three overs left. The visitors secured back-to-back six-wicket wins after trailing 2-1 earlier in the five-match series.
The chase, however, began shakily. Pakistan lost captain Eman Naseer and Raahima Syed early. Both fell with only 16 runs on the board. Despite the low score in the final match, Eman ended the series as the top run-scorer with 97 runs across the five games.
Momentum shifted when Komal Khan and Aqsa Habib built a crucial 37-run stand for the third wicket. Aqsa hit two fours and made 21 off 23 balls before falling in the 13th over. Komal followed soon after, scoring 25 from 46 deliveries with three boundaries.
From there, Pakistan closed the match calmly. Fizza Fiaz entered at 53-3 and finished unbeaten on 18 off 14 balls, striking a six and a four. Areesha Ansari supported her, remaining not out on seven off 10 balls with one boundary.
Bangladesh’s bowling effort saw wickets shared. Habiba Islam Pinky, Otoshi Mojumder, and Farjana Easmin claimed one wicket each.
Earlier, Pakistan opted to bowl first and dominated the opening exchanges. Bangladesh slumped to 31-5 in 8.1 overs as Barirah Saif, later named Player of the Match, struck twice in the fifth over.
Bangladesh relied heavily on No.6 batter Sadia Akter. She scored 27 off 28 balls, including three fours, and pushed the total to 84 before the team was bowled out in 19.1 overs. No other Bangladeshi batter reached double figures.
Pakistan’s bowling attack excelled. Pacer Barirah Saif ended with 3-16 from her four overs. Rozina Akram claimed 2-16, wrapping up the series with eight wickets, third-most alongside off-spinner Memoona Khalid. Aqsa Habib, Memoona Khalid, and Shehr Bano took one wicket each.
