Love, as the ancient Greeks understood, is never singular. For our RUSSH Love cover with Pandora, we turned to their taxonomy into a language for seeing the many textures of connection. Each of Mia Rankin’s images – styled by Hannah Cooper and featuring a constellation of creative minds – became a proposition: what does love look like when it shifts shape?
Eros arrives first, charged and cinematic, all proximity, heat and erotic intelligence. It is the glance held a second too long, the almost-touch that hums with possibility. Yet beside it sits Ludus, lighter, mischievous, love as play. Here bodies move without consequence, flirting with joy rather than forever. Philia threads through the series as something steadier. It is the choreography of trust: shoulders leaned into, laughter shared without performance. In contrast, Mania pushes love to its fevered edge, where desire tips into fixation, and the image tightens with intensity.
We were equally interested in love that endures beyond spectacle. Pragma surfaces in gestures of care – hands adjusting fabric, eyes attentive to detail – suggesting a devotion built over time. Storge echoes this familiarity, a softness that feels inherited, instinctive, almost unspoken. And running beneath it all is Agape, expansive and unpossessive. It appears not as a single moment, but as an atmosphere of openness, where each subject is held without condition. And finally, Philautia returns us to the self: adornment not as vanity, but as recognition, a way of meeting one’s own reflection with tenderness.
In the pages of our March Sublime issue, Pandora’s latest jewellery pieces becomes both symbol and participant, tracing these emotional registers across skin. Because to love at all is to move between states, to hold contradiction without needing to resolve it.
