One Piece franchise icon and long-time Straw Hat pirate Tony Tony Chopper has been appointed an “Official Supporter” of the Médecins Sans Frontières organization (known commonly in English as Doctors Without Borders). Several activities featuring the character are being planned in support of the organization’s initiatives.
Original manga creator Eiichiro Oda drew a special illustration for the collaboration with Tony Tony Chopper wearing a logo T-shirt and raising the organization’s flag. A dedicated website for the collaboration has also been launched.

The website describes the One Piece collaboration with Chopper as “[helping] raise awareness about how humanitarian crises are impacting people around the world” and supporting its overall actions. It cites Chopper’s “commitment to heal anyone, regardless of who they are” as resonating with the organization’s “medical ethics and core values of impartiality, neutrality and independence.”

The announcement comes as the long-running One Piece TV anime series makes its return in Japan on April 5, 2026 with the “Elbaph Arc,” as well as the debuts of the second season of its live-action series on March 10, 2026 and the upcoming One Piece Heroines on July 5, 2026. Chopper also stars in his own short anime series CHOPPER’s, which began airing on Fuji TV’s Mezamashi TV morning program on January 5, 2026.
VIZ Media releases the One Piece manga in English and describes the first volume as:
As a child, Monkey D. Luffy was inspired to become a pirate by listening to the tales of the buccaneer “Red-Haired” Shanks. But his life changed when Luffy accidentally ate the Gum-Gum Devil Fruit and gained the power to stretch like rubber…at the cost of never being able to swim again! Years later, still vowing to become the king of the pirates, Luffy sets out on his adventure…one guy alone in a rowboat, in search of the legendary “One Piece,” said to be the greatest treasure in the world…
