The game was developed by Edelweiss and published by XSEED Games and Marvelous USA, Inc, which includes a mix of 3D farming simulation and 2D side-scrolling action platformer gameplay.
The Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin sequel anime was first announced in November 2024, along with the spin-off game Sakuna Chronicles: Kokorowa and the Gears of Creation and another mobile game.
