This March, Night Market Asia is returning to Adelaide, transforming Whitmore Square into a celebration of culture for two nights only. The market will take attendees on a journey of stories, flavours and traditions across Asia.
Running across Friday, March 6th and Saturday, March 7th, Night Market Asia is inviting locals to adventure through their lantern-lit pathways, following the sizzle of woks and enjoying the soundtrack of live performances that will aim to bring the square to life. The atmosphere is meant to feel like a mini holiday without even having to leave the city, making for the perfect adventure as we get further into the new year.
Food is central to the experience, with hawker-style favourites and bold street eats from across Asia, including everything from charcoal-grilled satay and Sichuan-spiced wings to chilli crab bao and refreshing mango shaved ice taking centre stage.
Beyond the food stalls, the market will also showcase creativity, with indie makers and artisan traders setting up shop in the square. Ceramics, prints, zines, streetwear and handcrafted pieces will all be on display, offering guests the chance to discover something unique while supporting local creatives and small businesses.
This year’s return will also place a strong focus on families, with an expanded Kids Zone that is welcoming, interactive and sensory-friendly. Kids can take part in lantern labs, mini dumpling workshops and gentle dance-along moments, while a quieter corner also offers a calm space for those who need it. There will be a passport challenge that encourages kids to collect stamps as they explore, trading them in for limited pins and treats along the way.
Live performances will run throughout each day, with a mix of main-stage showcases and roaming acts adding to the fun. From music and dance to cultural performances, the program reflects the diversity and richness of Asia in a way that feels celebratory and inclusive.
Presented by Ai Festival Pty Ltd, Night Market Asia is part of the 2026 Adelaide Fringe. With free entry and a program that’s suitable for all ages, this is an open invitation to come as you are, stay as long as you like and experience the fun as it unfolds!
