New PSL Franchise to Play Home Games at This Venue

New PSL Franchise to Play Home Games at This Venue

Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) franchise, Sialkot, is quietly exploring a “home away from home” arrangement for PSL 11, and inside talk suggests the team could end up playing its home fixtures in Faisalabad, though the plan is not confirmed yet.

According to the buzz around franchise planning, Iqbal Stadium is being discussed as the likely home venue for Sialkot’s PSL side. The idea gained more weight after franchise owner Hamza Majeed indicated that Faisalabad is his 2nd home ground.

The Faisalabad angle also fits the broader direction the PCB had hinted at earlier. Last month, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced that Iqbal Stadium would host PSL matches next year, a statement made even before the new team auction, when Faisalabad was still in the conversation as a potential franchise city but ultimately wasn’t selected.

Meanwhile, Sialkot’s own infrastructure remains part of the longer-term picture. Earlier reports suggested Jinnah Stadium in Sialkot is expected to undergo a major upgrade after the city secured its PSL franchise, with renovation work likely to be prioritized as preparations for league expansion continue.

If that upgrade timeline stretches, Faisalabad offers a ready-to-use venue with recent top-level hosting experience.

Iqbal Stadium, formerly known as Lyallpur Stadium, is one of Pakistan’s historic cricket grounds. The ground successfully hosted a three-match ODI series against South Africa in November 2025, its first ODI action since 2008, an assignment that saw strong attendance and a lively atmosphere.

On the branding front, there is also inside chatter that “Sialkot Stallions” is unlikely to be the franchise’s final name, with the new owners expected to introduce a fresh identity. OZ Developers, which secured the Sialkot franchise with a bid of Rs. 185 crore, has said it plans to rely on professional branding experts to finalize the name, logo, and overall identity rather than making decisions internally.
