We’ve all been there: slogging through a never-ending day of uni work when the mid-arvo slump hits and a coffee isn’t just something you want – it’s something you need. The only cure for surviving the next hour-long lecture video or source analysis, might just be a dose of caffeine. But forking out an extra $25 for a weak iced coffee and a measly ham and cheese croissant feels akin to highway robbery.
Thankfully, the team behind A Pot Called Kettle knows that good coffee and fresh food shouldn’t resurface existential fears about never being able to break into the housing market or anxiety about filling up your next tank. That’s why their newest Flinders Uni location is bringing their much-loved ethos, to this new spot – ‘fresh South Australian food, affordability, amazing service, and a focus on being environmentally friendly’.
With a focus on South Australian ingredients, this spot serves a fresh, ever-changing menu cooked each morning at their Flinders University fit-out. You can grab brekky for as little as $7 with a granola pot, or choose something heartier like a breakfast burrito for just $10. Coffee and tea start from $5, so you can easily enjoy a full meal for under $15.
They’ve also kept some crowd favourites. If you’re in the mood to treat yourself, we recommend trying the strawberry matcha – a perfect pick-me-up for those long study days.
Even better, A Pot Called Kettle isn’t just looking after your bank – they’re looking out for the environment as well. With a dedication to supporting local roasters who source their beans from ethical growers all across the globe, your morning coffee isn’t going to hurt the earth.

The new fitout is located at the base of the main campus, just off Registry Road. It features warm, inviting lighting and is surrounded by glass windows to let in natural light, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating so you can settle in.
Excitingly, A Pot Called Kettle has an adjacent sister store – Smoodi – a smoothie and juice bar serving some of the best grab‑and‑go refreshments. Whether you’re after something a bit heartier, like a breakfast smoothie, or you just need a light and easy juice to get you through a slump, we suggest you pay the Smoodi team a visit. Here’s their current smoothie lineup:
With a focus on the student community, Smoodi is dedicated to making their menu easy and affordable – keep an eye on their socials for student discounts and even free Flinders University parking giveaways.
