New boundary-pushing art venue brings gallery and unique bookstore to Adelaide CBD with ambitions to enter the bar scene

There’s a new creative hub in the Adelaide CBD underscored by industrial details and modern metallic accents. Flinders Street’s FUTUREJUICE combines conceptual exhibitions, a curated bookstore, and frequent gallery events for a space that’s unlikely for its Flinders Street surroundings

FUTUREJUICE is set among towering apartment buildings and hotels with few spaces open to pedestrians. That’s perhaps what makes the gallery so striking. Bursts of colour catch your eye from the sidewalk and draw you in.

Co-owner and curator André Zufferey AKA Dré Fuzz explains that FUTUREJUICE’s primary focus is its exhibition space. “Our aim is to create conceptual group exhibitions with a thematic approach, bringing together local, interstate, and international artists,” Dré said. “We want to broaden networks and artistic opportunities for Adelaide’s community, which has often felt limited in exposure to global art practices.”

The gallery’s current exhibition, INFO MYTH, explores the power of information and perception in contemporary society. Featuring works by Mika Ben Amar, James Brett, Filip Custic, and Aidan Hughes, the show examines how information, “historically regulated and currently saturated,” influences beliefs and shapes social realities. The exhibition runs until 13 December 2025. Note that the images in this article are from recent exhibition “:)?!”.

Beyond the exhibition space, FUTUREJUICE hosts a book store stocking art, design, and research-focused titles from international publishers including UN Projects, A24, MACK Publishing, Antenne Books, KD Press, Sorry Press, and Perimeter Books. The venue also features a curated retail section with clothing, jewellery, and art pieces from independent makers worldwide.

The space opens Tuesday to Sunday and regularly hosts open nights, giving art lovers the chance to see the gallery in a new light. At the moment, these events feature drinks by Norwood-based soda label Mischief Brew. The dream, Dré tells us, is to take this further by introducing a broader drink offering, and hopefully in time, a functioning bar within the gallery.

“Art galleries often encourage you to move through the space quickly. The bar would let people sit, pause, and fully engage with the environment,” he said. While nothing is confirmed just yet, we’re keen to see what comes next for this evolving bar-meets-gallery concept.

FUTUREJUICE’s interior design reflects its brutalist architecture, with custom aluminium and stainless-steel furniture crafted by Dré and co-owner Tamika Couedor, who brings extensive experience from Paris’s digital art scene.

The space’s curatorial approach spans exhibition, publishing, design, and even commercial collaborations, aiming to offer innovative, concept-driven experiences that challenge and inspire. With its blend of local and international perspectives, FUTUREJUICE is positioning itself as Adelaide’s hub for experimental art, creative dialogue, and cultural exchange. Or simply put, it’s a very cool space with a very cool energy and well worth checking out.
