The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has busted a major interstate drug trafficking syndicate and uncovered a clandestine mephedrone (MD) manufacturing lab in Mysore.
Acting on intelligence inputs, an NCB team intercepted a Toyota Fortuner SUV with a Karnataka registration on January 28 at Palsana in Gujarat’s Surat district. A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of around 35 kg of mephedrone.
In a follow-up operation, the NCB seized MD manufacturing equipment in Jodhpur, capable of producing up to 200 kg of the drug.
So far, drugs worth approximately Rs10 crore, Rs 25.6 lakh in cash, a Toyota Fortuner, and more than 500 kg of various chemicals have been seized.
Four drug traffickers, including the kingpin, have been arrested. All the accused are residents of Jalore district, Rajasthan.
Further investigation is underway to identify other members of the drug cartel and trace the supply chain of chemicals and equipment used for illegal drug manufacturing.
