Multan Sultans are reportedly considering Pakistan T20 skipper Salman Ali Agha to replace Mohammad Rizwan as captain ahead of the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) season.
Rizwan, who has been synonymous with Multan Sultans’ rise in the PSL, has already stepped down from the captaincy.
The captaincy change is part of a wider overhaul at Multan Sultans, who will be operated directly by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for PSL 11 after the previous ownership arrangement came to an end. The team is expected to be put up for auction again once PSL 11 is over.
As part of this reset, Lahore Qalandars head coach, Aqib Javed, is tipped to take charge as Head of Cricket Affairs, overseeing player recruitment, long-term planning, and cricket operations.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s current head coach, Mike Hesson, is expected to come in as head coach. Names such as Abdul Razzaq, Mushtaq Ahmed, and Taufeeq Umar have also been discussed for supporting roles in the new coaching group.
If the move goes through, Multan Sultans will head into PSL 11 under a completely revamped structure: a new captain at the forefront, a new coaching brain trust, and the PCB temporarily steering the franchise off the field.
