More multiverse madness as RICK AND MORTY returns to HBO Max this May

Rick and Morty are heading back to screens this May, with HBO Max today confirming the premiere date of the long running animated hit.

The cult Adult Swim animated series promises a ninth season that aims even bigger while doubling down on the absurd sci-fi chaos fans expect.

The new season of the global favourite sees the galaxy’s most dysfunctional duo once again diving headfirst into bizarre universes and high concept adventures.

Voices returning for the series include Ian Cardoni, Harry Belden, Sarah Chalke, Chris Parnell and Spencer Grammer, with Dan Harmon and showrunner Scott Marder serving as executive producers.

Michael Ouweleen, President of Adult Swim, said the creative team continues to push the series to new heights with each season.

“I know it’s my job to say that this show just keeps topping itself, but it also has the benefit of being true.”

He added the latest episodes showcase the team’s ambition and talent, with what he describes as some of the strongest character writing the show has delivered so far.

A global cultural juggernaut, the series has won two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Animated Program and will launch the new season 9 across more than 170 countries in 42 languages.

The new season of Rick and Morty debuts Monday 25 May, only on HBO Max, with earlier seasons available to stream now.
