Mohammad Nawaz Hails Impact of Spinners in Pakistan’s Test Success

Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz has expressed satisfaction with the recent performances of the national team’s spin bowlers.

Speaking to Bangladeshi media, Nawaz said that Test matches in Pakistan previously ended in draws due to flat pitches, but conditions and outcomes have started to change.

“Lately, our spinners have started delivering strong performances in Test matches,” Nawaz said.

He added that while Pakistan’s fast bowlers have always been world-class and remain central to the team’s plans. He said it is encouraging to see spinners winning matches and playing decisive roles in series victories.

Mohammad Nawaz highlighted the contributions of experienced bowlers Nauman Ali, Sajid Khan and Yasir Shah, saying their success has motivated younger spinners to take Test cricket more seriously.

Nawaz also spoke about his experience in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), where he has featured regularly over the past five to six seasons.

He said it feels good to play in the league but acknowledged that there have been several incidents that should not have occurred.

Despite these concerns, he recognised the BPL’s growing international reputation, saying it has become a global brand that attracts international cricketers, though he added that it is unfortunate that negative news continues to surface.

The left-arm spinner is currently part of Pakistan’s 15-member T20I squad for the upcoming three-match series against Sri Lanka.

Pakistan will depart for Sri Lanka in the first week of January. All three T20I matches will be played at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium in Dambulla on January 7, 9, and 11.

The series will serve as preparation for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8. Pakistan will play all their World Cup matches in Colombo.
