The Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe anime film has recently received a crossover illustration with Sgt. Frog. Its artist is Mine Yoshizaki, the creator of the Sgt. Frog science fiction comedy manga.
Based on the main visual for The Sorcery of Nymph Circe, the Sgt. Frog version has Tamama and Keroro taking the places of Gigi Andalusia and Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway protagonist Hathaway Noa, respectively. Replacing Kenneth Sleg is Giroro, while Kururu stands in for the mobile suit at the rear.

While the original visual had Gigi’s hand and a mobile suit hand symbolically blended together and simultaneously reaching to grasp Hathaway, the collaboration swaps the mechanical fingers for Dororo’s face.
Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe began screening in Japan on January 30, with a reported opening weekend gross of around 840 million yen (~US$5.4 million). It’s the second installment of the Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway trilogy, which adapts the novels by Gundam creator Yoshiyuki Tomino and is part of the Universal Century setting. The synopsis for The Sorcery of Nymph Circe reads:
The year is U.C.0105, twelve years after Char’s Rebellion. “Mafty” has begun resisting the Federation government’s tyrannical rule by assassinating its high-ranking officials. Its leader is actually Hathaway Noa, the son of Bright Noa, who fought in the One Year War alongside Amuro Ray. A girl named Gigi Andalusia, who displays uncanny powers, has reminded Hathaway of a past trauma. Though he is bewildered by her words, he prepares to carry out an air raid on the Adelaide conference, determined to fulfill Mafty’s goals and lay his own past to rest.
Haunted by past trauma, Hathaway is drawn to the mysterious girl Gigi Andalucia, whose strange powers stir memories within him. While swayed by her cryptic words, he continues preparing for Mafty’s mission — the attack on the Adelaide Conference. Meanwhile, Kenneth Sleg of the Federation Forces prepares a defense operation for the Adelaide Conference and a plan to eliminate Mafty, when he is approached by Handley Yoxon of the Criminal Police Organization with a secret proposal. As Hathaway and Kenneth pursue their respective goals, Gigi also sets off for Hong Kong to fulfill her own role.
Meanwhile, the Sgt. Frog manga sees several alien invaders living among humans. Initially a 1998 one-shot, the manga began serialization in Shonen Ace in 1999 and has 35 volumes as of December 2025. A TV anime began airing in 2004 and ran for 358 episodes across multiple seasons, with several anime movies being released during this period. The 24-episode Keroro followed in 2014.
This year, Sgt. Frog will receive new anime content in the form of a movie titled Shingekijoban☆Keroro Gunso Fukatsushite Sokko Chikyu Metsubo no Kiki de arimasu! (premiering in the summer) and a new TV anime (which will begin airing in the Fall 2026 anime season).
