Melbourne City Head Coach Michael Matricciani has been named Coach of the Month in the Ninja A-League for February.
Matricciani was awarded the fourth managerial honour of the 2025-26 campaign after steering his side to a three-game unbeaten run throughout the voting period.
Recording two wins and a draw during rounds 16-18, Matricciani’s side maintained their spot on top of the Ninja A-League heading into the AFC Women’s Asian Cup period.

Matricciani was nominated for the February award via Football Coaches Australia’s monthly nomination process.
Australian Professional Leagues (APL) partnered with FCA in 2022-23 to help provide the recognition required for outstanding coaching performances across both the Ninja A-League and Isuzu UTE A-League.
The FCA assembled an experienced panel that decides the monthly nominees and then subsequent winners for Coach of the Month in both leagues.
The February eligibility period included Rounds 16-18 of the Ninja A-League season, with games between February 6 and February 22 considered by the FCA Panel when voting for the Coach of the Month nominees.
As such, Matricciani’s side bagged wins over Brisbane Roar and Central Coast Mariners whilst they also secured a point against Victory in the Melbourne Derby to ensure they remain three points clear at the top of the league.
