A key visual for the upcoming Made in Abyss: Mezameru Shinpi anime has been revealed, along with an October 23 (JST) release date for Japanese cinemas.

The Made in Abyss title is the first entry in a new Made in Abyss theatrical anime series. Past anime include a 2017 TV series, 2020’s Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul anime movie, and the 2022 second season Made In Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun.2024 saw the announcement that there would be a new anime.
Other Made in Abyss reveals at this time include Japanese revival screenings for the first season’s two compilation films from May 22 (JST) to June 4 (JST), as well as the start of pre-registration for the Made in Abyss ~Doshigatai Fushigi na Tabi~ mobile game. The latter is also revealed to be a “deck-building roguelike” with the English title Made in Abyss ~An Irredeemable Journey of Mysteries~.
Made in Abyss is inspired by the Takeshobo-published dark fantasy adventure manga by Akihito Tsukushi. Seven Seas Entertainment describes the manga’s synopsis as such:
In an age when the corners of the world have been scoured for their secrets, only one place remains unexplored–a massive cave system known as the Abyss. Those who traverse its endless pits and labyrinth-like tunnels are known as Cave Raiders. A young orphan named Riko dreams of following in her mother’s footsteps as a Cave Raider, and when she meets a strange robot when exploring the Abyss, she’s one step closer to achieving her goal!
The Made in Abyss manga debuted n 2012 and has 14 volumes as of August 2025, It is currently serialized on Take Comic.
