Mel Buttle, Stephen K Amos and 25 shows are turning Woodville Town Hall into a Fringe hotspot

With Adelaide Fringe just a short few months away, Woodville Town Hall is stepping confidently into the spotlight as one of the festival’s fastest-growing suburban hubs in 2026, and the scale and diversity of the program make it impossible to ignore.

Fifteen minutes from the CBD, directly opposite a major train station and with free parking on offer, the western suburbs venue will host 25 shows across more than 63 individual performances, spanning comedy, live music, theatre, cabaret, dance, magic, variety, and a strong stream of children’s and family programming designed to make Fringe feel genuinely welcoming for all ages.

“The overall vibe at Woodville Town Hall is celebratory – a warm, welcome, inclusive space where people come together for a great night out with family and friends, to enjoy live art and discover something new,” says Woodville Town Hall Business Development and Programming lead Deanna Howland.

Comedy and music lead the 2026 program, each making up 24 per cent of the lineup, followed by cabaret, theatre, dance, magic and variety. For families, there is a dedicated Kids & Family stream featuring Fringe favourites FoRT by Asking for Trouble and Mr Snotbottom’s P.Gee!, both returning for exclusive seasons, alongside Tune In! The Frequency Within, a futuristic dance-theatre adventure from the makers of Amazônia!

If you’re chasing big laughs or crowd-pleasing music, the hub also delivers heavyweight names, with Mel Buttle: Taking My Sunglasses Off To Hear You Better and Stephen K Amos: Now We’re Talking headlining comedy, while music lovers can catch Bob Dylan Reborn: Rolling Thunder Revue, Movin’ Melvin Brown, and The Sound of Gospel.

Accessibility is one of the defining pillars of the hub’s 2026 program. With step-free access, excellent public transport links, free parking, and six shows presented across seven Auslan-interpreted sessions, Woodville Town Hall is positioning itself as one of the most inclusive Fringe destinations in Adelaide.

“This is something we are super passionate about and proud to be improving all the time at Woodville Town Hall,” says Howland. “Art is for everyone, and everyone should be able to access and enjoy live art including Fringe Festival.”

Diversity is also reflected on stage, with 60 per cent of shows featuring women performers, 32 per cent representing culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, 20 per cent including LGBTIQ+ artists, 20 per cent spotlighting emerging artists, and 12 per cent showcasing youth aged 25 and under.

“Fringe audiences deserve to see themselves reflected on stage,” Howland says. “All sorts of people make art and deserve a platform to share it – and as audience members from any background, our experiences are made richer when we broaden the range of art makers on stage.”

For Fringe-goers who usually stick to the city, Woodville Town Hall offers a compelling alternative. Air-conditioned comfort, easy access by train, a growing hospitality strip right on its doorstep, and the perfect recipe for a colourful Fringe experience. Plus, there’s an “exciting bar partner” announcement dropping soon, too.

“We have a growing range of quality hospitality offerings on our street, including Bavarde, a French cabaret bar located at the front of our venue, as well as NNQ for Vietnamese and Banca for Italian just across the road, so your pre-show dinner is sorted. Or pop by Banca or Two Sisters for excellent coffee or lunch before a daytime show,” Howland says.

“Woodville Town Hall Fringe Hub is not just somewhere to go for a great show – but an excellent and easy choice for a great night out,” she adds.

Woodville Town Hall is located on 72 Woodville Road, Woodville.
