Meet Teagan Croft, the Aussie set to lead Disney’s ‘Tangled’

Another Australian is set to be catapulted to stardom. Yes, 21-year-old actress and RUSSH digital cover star Teagan Croft is the latest Aussie export set to have the spotlight trained on her, as the newly-announced lead of Disney’s live-action Tangled.

So, who exactly is the actor about to inherit one of Disney’s most beloved roles? Everything we know about Teagan Croft, below.

Who is Teagan Croft?

If Croft already feels familiar, there’s a good reason. The Australian actor first came to international attention as Raven in DC’s Titans, a role she played from 2018 to 2023. As the half-human, half-demon superhero grappling with immense power and emotional complexity, Croft quickly became a fan favourite, anchoring the series with a performance that balanced vulnerability and strength well beyond her years.

Born in Sydney, Croft was destined for the screen — she’s the niece of fellow actresses Penny and Jessica McNamee. And in addition to Tangled, she’s also got a few other projects on the horizon. Speaking to RUSSH back in April 2025, she shared, “I’ve just finished filming two Indie projects. I’m really excited about people who are excited to make movies. That energy is transferable. It’s palpable! It’s shareable.”

What do we know about her role in Tangled?

Croft has been cast as Rapunzel in Disney’s upcoming live-action reimagining of Tangled, stepping into the long, golden locks previously voiced by Mandy Moore in the 2010 animated classic. She’ll star opposite Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider, with the film set to retain the musical heart that made the original such a standout of Disney’s modern renaissance.

The project will be directed by Michael Gracey (best known for The Greatest Showman and Better Man), signalling a strong emphasis on spectacle and song, while the screenplay comes from Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. Production is being overseen by longtime Disney collaborator Kristin Burr, who previously produced Cruella.

Casting reportedly followed an extensive international search, with finalists screen-testing in London late last year — a process Disney is said to have approached with particular care, given the enduring popularity of the original film. We can’t help but feel proud that an Australian took this one out.

Does Teagan Croft sing?

The role of Rapunzel comes with some pretty big responsibility, musically speaking. And while Croft might be better known for her acting, music has actually been close to her heart for some time. Speaking to RUSSH, she shared, “Music is as close as I’ll get to religion. There’s this universal feeling that music has, like a universal emotive code that we all can inherently crack.” Online, there are whispers that Croft also writes her own music. Perhaps an album could be in her future?
