Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Sunday said that meditation is a priceless boon that has come up from the ancient traditions of India and is relevant in today’s fast-paced and stressful times.
He was addressing a function to celebrate the World Meditation Day at Mahatma Mandir Convention Centre in Gandhinagar.
“Meditation is such a priceless boon that has come up from ancient traditions of India which is relevant even in today’s fast-paced and stressful times. It is not just spiritual meditation, but a powerful tool for mental health, emotional balance and whole development. World Meditation Day inspires us to calm our mind by enlightening our inner strength,” Patel said.
Talking about the decision of the United Nations to celebrate December 21 as World Meditation Day, Patel said that India has remained as a country which provided spiritual guidance to the world. He also said that Gujarat has preserved the tradition of restraint, meditation and values.
In the context of the celebration, the CM said that when lifestyle diseases like obesity, blood pressure, diabetes at young age are increasing, yoga and meditation are playing an important role in increasing a person’s inner strength, focus and decisiveness without any side effects.
The event was organised by the Gujarat Yoga Board. MLA from Gandhinagar North constituency Ritaben Patel, Gandhinagar Mayor Meeraben Patel and chairman of the board Shishpal Rajput were present, among others.
