The Medalist anime film that was announced in January has gotten an ultra teaser trailer and ultra teaser visual. The latter sees protagonist Inori Yuitsuka facing off against the formidable Hikaru Kamisaki.
Medalist is based on the Kodansha-published figure skating manga by Tsurumaikada. The anime’s synopsis reads:
Tsukasa Akeuraji, a frustrated skater, meets a girl called Inori Yuitsuka, who is yearning to enter the world of figure skating. Motivated by Inori’s obsession on the rink, Tsukasa takes on coaching Inori himself. Inori’s talent blossoms, and Tsukasa becomes a brilliant mentor. Together they aim to make her a glorious medalist!!

The anime’s first season aired during the Winter 2025 anime season. Season 2 debuted on January 24 JST (effectively January 25 at 2 AM JST) of this year and recently ended with nine episodes. Disney+ (Hulu in the US) streams the show.
The Medalist manga started serialization in seinen magazine Monthly Afternoon in 2020 and has 14 volumes as of January 2026. Kodansha USA publishes it in English.
