India expressed grave concerns over the ‘2,900 incidents of violence against minorities’ in Bangladesh documented by independent sources during the interim government’s tenure.
Briefing the media, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Official Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, said, “We condemn recent gruesome killing of a Hindu youth in Mymensingh and expect perpetrators to be brought to justice. Incidents of violence against minorities in Bangladesh cannot be brushed aside as media exaggeration or dismissed as political violence. Over 2,900 incidents of violence against minorities were documented in Bangladesh by independent sources during the tenure of the interim govt.”
He also addressed the death of Indian national Prashant Sreekumar in Canada due to alleged medical negligence, with Jaiswal stating, ‘We are in touch with local authorities as to what the circumstances… that led to the death’.
