A teaser visual and January 2027 broadcast premiere window for the Matsurika Kanriden TV anime have been revealed, along with its main cast and staff..
Rie Takahashi is voicing female protagonist Matsurika Ko, a court lady of the rear palace, while Nobunaga Shimazaki is Hakuyo, the emperor who notices Matsurika’s good memory and asks her to pass the Imperial exam. Yuichi Nakazawa (A Playthrough of a Certain Dude’s VRMMO Life) is directing at MAHO FILM with Takeshi Mori (My Daughter Left the Nest and Returned an S-Rank Adventurer) as chief director.

Other staff include Toko Machida as series composer and Manami Inose (Blue Miburo Season 2) as character designer.
Matsurika Kanriden is based on the light novel series written by Rinne Ishida and illustrated by Izumi. The “Chinese Cinderella story” is published by KADOKAWA under the B’s-LOG Bunko label. The first volume came out in 2017. and there are 18 volumes as of 2025.
Matsurika Kanriden also has a manga and a spin-off titled 13-sai no Tanjobi, Kogo ni Narimashita, which has its own manga.
