Kiara Abrantes of Bridgewater State along with Makany Camara of Fitchburg State and Jenna Lopez of Worcester State claim the MASCAC Women’s Indoor Track and Field weekly accolades.
Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Kiara Abrantes, Bridgewater State
Senior, Somerset, Mass.
Abrantes placed fourth in the 200-meter dash (first among DIII sprinters) with a school record tying time of 24.68 seconds this past weekend at the River Hawk Invitational hosted by UMass Lowell at The Track at New Balance. Also finished ninth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.82 seconds. The meet featured schools from all three Divisions (predominantly Division I) as well as track clubs. Currently ranks ninth in all of Division III in the 200 and 13th in the 60 as well as fourth in the 400. Also first in the East Region in the 200 and 60 as well as second in the 400.

Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Makany Camara, Fitchburg State
Graduate, Lowell, Mass.
Camara finished third overall in the high jump with an All-New England qualifyng mark of 1.65 meters as well as placing seventh overall in the 60 meter hurdles with an All-NE qualifying time of 8.98 seconds for the Falcons at the 2026 UMass Lowell RiverHawks Invite on Friday. High jump mark puts her 20th nationally in the event.

Rookie of the Week
Jenna Lopez, Worcester State
First Year, W. Springfield, Mass.
Lopez captured first place in the shot put with a throw of 11.39m at the Coast Guard meet. Lopez also added a seventh-place finish in the weight throw with a top distance of 10.50m. Currently 14th in the East Region in the shot put.
