After competing at the DIII New England Championships over the weekend, Paulino Guevara Mateo and Liam Bourassa of Fitchburg State take home the MASCAC Men’s Indoor Track and Field weekly awards.
Men’s Indoor Track Athlete and Rookie of the Week
Paulino Guevara Mateo, Fitchburg State
Freshman, Cambridge, Mass.
Mateo placed seventh overall in the mile with an All-NE qualifying and PR time of 4:12.56 and sixth overall in the 3000 meter with an All-NE qualifying and new program record time of 8:26.25, breaking the previous record, held by Chris Kibler in 2012 for the Falcons at the 2026 DIII NE Championships on Sunday.

Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Liam Bourassa, Fitchburg State
Senior, Shirley, Mass.
Bourassa placed third overall in the weight throw with an All-New England qualifying toss of 17.12 meters as well as finishing fourth overall in the shotput with an All-NE qualifying toss of 15.76 meters at the 2026 DIII New England Chamionships on Sunday.
