Kevin McBirney of Bridgewater State plus the Fitchburg State duo of Liam Bourassa and Paulino Guevara Mateo earn the MASCAC Men’s Indoor Track and Field weekly awards.
Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Kevin McBirney, Bridgewater State
Graduate, E. Bridgewater, Mass.
McBirney captured top honors in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:51.82 this past weekend at the River Hawk Invitational hosted by UMass Lowell at The Track at New Balance. The meet featured schools from all three Divisions (predominantly Division I) as well as track clubs. Currently ranks 11th in all of Division III in the 800 and third in the East Region.

Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Liam Bourassa, Fitchburg State
Senior, Shirley, Mass.
Bourassa placed second overall in the weight throw with an All-New England qualifying toss of 17.61 meters before placing first overall in shotput with an All-NE qualfiying throw of 15.18 meters for the Falcons at the 2026 Coast Guard Golden Bear Invite on Friday.

Men’s Indoor Track Rookie of the Week
Paulino Guevara Mateo, Fitchburg State
Freshman, Cambridge, Mass.
Mateo finished first overall in the mile with a time of 4:30.33 before placing second overall in the 800 meter with a time of 1:58.42 for the Green and Gold at the 2026 UMass Lowell RivierHawks Invite on Friday.
