Man shot dead in western Sydney unit block, sparking NSW Police operation

A man has been shot dead in western Sydney during the early hours of Saturday morning, according to police reports.

The 44-year-old man was found by emergency services at around 6.40am on Saturday with gunshot wounds at a unit block on Newman Street at Merrylands in Sydney’s west.

Authorities reported the man died at the scene despite efforts by police and paramedics.

A crime scene has been established and “an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident has commenced, with assistance from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad,” police said in statement.
